NDA Selection Process
NDA I and NDA II help candidates start a career in the defense services. The National Defense Academy & Naval Academy (NDA & NA) exams are a two-step process in which candidates must first take an exam and then qualify for a personality test or interview administered by the Service Selection Board (SSB).
The NDA selection process is a robust, organized and fair process. Many aspects are involved in this. Students must first take a written test. Then there is an interview. The first aspect of the NDA selection process is the written exam administered by the UPSC. The NDA written exam consists of two parts: mathematics and general ability exam. There are 120 math problems. Each question is worth 2.5 points. So the total score for the math test is 300. When choosing an answer, be very careful - there are negative ratings. For each wrong answer, 1/3 of 2.5 points or 0.83 points are deducted. The math curriculum is based on 12th grade math topics. Therefore, you should thoroughly read and practice the NCERT math book. According to the UPSC Circular, the mathematics working syllabus includes:

The GAT or General Ability Test has 150 questions. Each question is rated on his 4 points. Therefore, this paper will receive a total of 600 points. A minus mark is added. Each wrong answer will deduct 1/3 of the 4 points, or 1.33 points. You have to know what's going on. A good knowledge of history and geography is required up to Grade 10 criteria. General science questions will also be asked. Grab an old NCERT book and brush up on your knowledge.
So we know that the total score for the written test is 300 + 600 = 900. UPSC has a two-and-a-half hour window for each paper. Therefore, the total duration of the exam is 5 hours for him.
SSB Interview
After passing the written exam, you will be invited to an SSB interview. Five days for the interview. It's a tough test. This is different from the normal application process. You will be tested both mentally and physically.
In the SSB interview, all candidates are shown first. There is a psychological test known as the PPDT test. Many candidates have already been rejected at this first step. A screening test is followed by several psychological and physical examinations. This is one of the most important aspects of the NDA selection process. The Thematic Perception Test presents 11 slides. The last slide is left blank. Each photo is only 30 seconds. After the image disappears, you have 4 minutes to write a story based on the scenario shown in the image. Then another slide appears after 4 minutes and persists for 30 seconds. This continues.
The word association test displays words on the screen. Each word is displayed for only 15 seconds, during which you must make a sentence based on that word. 60 words in total.
The situational reaction test presents 60 situations. You should write down how you react to these situations. It takes 30 minutes to complete the entire test.
The self-written test requires you to write about your personal life, your successes, your failures, your friends and your family.
After this phase, there is a phase where you have to work in groups. The steps involved in this test are:
Group Discussion
Group Planning - Here you first write how you plan your actions to solve the problem. The group then discusses the problem and each member's plan. Members of the group must unanimously agree on the optimal plan.
Progressive Group Task - Here you move back and forth over hurdles and obstacles using ropes, timbers, nets, etc. All party members are there
Half Party Task - Here you perform the same task as the PGT, but with half the party members.
Individual Obstacle Task - Here you have to overcome 10 obstacles individually.
Command Task - This will test your leadership skills. Command two or three people to overcome obstacles.
Group Obstacle Race - This is where your group competes against other groups.
Lecture - I need to give a 3 minute lecture on a specific topic.
The next stage in the NDA selection process is the face-to-face interview. This is an important part of the interview. This part of the NDA selection process determines if you have what it takes to register for the NDA. You must be polite, calm and confident. Be honest and forthright in front of the interviewer. Answer all his questions in a confident tone, without arrogance or fear.
After passing the face-to-face interview, you will be interviewed by all SSB officers. This is similar to a face-to-face conversation, but more intense.
