 What is an NDA?

The National Defense Academy (NDA) is the Indian Armed Forces where cadets from the three services of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force train together before proceeding to their respective service academies for further training before contracting. Eligibility of NDA?

  • Age limit for students is 16.5-19.5 yrs.

  • Students must clear or appear in 10+2  Qualification for the Army wing.

  • Students must clear or appear 10+2 including Physics, Chemistry, Math Qualification for the Airforce and Naval wings.

  • A physical NDA test measures a candidate's suitability based on height, weight, and medical criteria


Exam Pattern of NDA?

The written exam consists of two exams: Mathematics and the General Proficiency Test (GAT). Mathematics assignments are worth 300 points and GAT assignments are worth 600 points. The total score for the NDA written exam is 900. Math problems are drawn from topics covered in 12th grade. GAT papers include English, general knowledge, and general science questions. 


The SSB interview consists of two phases. The first level includes OIR and PP and DT tests, while the second level includes psychological tests and conferences. The maximum score for the SSB interview is 900 points.


The allotted time for students is 2.5 hours for the written exam which is provided in English and Hindi language.

The exam also contains negative marks of -0.83 points for math and -1.33 points for the GAT exam.

  • Word Association Test (WAT)
